Silksong Is Still Worth The Wait

Indie Games Take Time Afterall

I’ve been watching my partner play through Hollow Knight recently; as someone whose played though maybe 1/5 of it myself. I find myself enjoying their response to the rich story within the game. Hollow Knight has never been quite my cup of play-tea but that doesn’t make it a good game in it’s own right.

I highly dislike most of the Dark Souls games but my favorite game of all time is Bloodborne. It really comes down to tastes. It’s particularly why I am still incredibly excited for Silksong. I think an improved version of Hollow Knight is what’s really keeping me from having my ‘Bloodborne’ moment with the series.

I already told my partner that Silksong is likely to give me that moment and that just makes me want to play it even more.

That is not to say that Silksong is going to be Bloodborne, but Hornet’s move set does feel a lot more my speed. I am someone who beat Hades the first time in under 30 hours and I absolutely hate roguelikes (that is to say I am really bad at most of them). There is just something about what I’ve seen so far that tells me I am going to beat this game when I get my hands on it. It honestly feels like a personal challenge at this point.

The game started out as DLC and blossomed into it’s own game which is already incredible to me. However the frustration some people have voiced about it’s release is understandable to an extent. However, as a game developer myself I am just happy to see that Team Cherry is still out there making anything at all.

My own dreams have been on standby for quite sometime now due to money constraints and straight up life. So I completely understand the delays. I’d rather the game take two more years then be handed a half-baked dream. Thankfully, it seems most of the fandom feels that way too. I tend to enjoy watching Mossbag talk about things they’ve found when I am feeling impatient.

I wanted to write this little essay to encourage the team that people are still excited and that I still believe in them. What they are doing is no easy task and I can’t imagine the sort of pressure they must be under to deliver this second installment. There has been a plague outside for two years now. Almost some familiar territory for them considering the story of Hollow Knight!

If you see this Team Cherry I admire you quite a bit and one day maybe I’ll even get to write a story scenario for you one day. Your lore and vibe really make me want to crack my fingers together! This little writing exercise isn’t necessarily a resume but I wouldn’t mind talking to you one day regardless!

Anyway, fan thoughts aside. I really hope to see Silksong on my flat screen someday soon. Also, if you happen to ever have a Cloth plushie made. My partner would really like one. The death of that character really bummed him out.
